Hi guys.

I'm using the default menu on my xfce install, but i have a question. How can i add Thunar to in a category in the menu. I tried installing lxmed, but i can't edit categories. Neither in alacarte. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi!

I probably wasn't clear enough. I don't want to switch thunar to another category, but make it a clickable category in the panel immediately. Like, file manager>click, opens thunar.

Can it be done at all?

Thanks!

Try to modify the something about the Thunar entry with Alacarte. Then go
to ./.local/share/applications/ and edit the .desktop file of Thunar. There
you can assign the category that you want.

Yes, you can do that, however I don't think there is any GUI
capable of that. You would have to create an XML menu file from
scratch, the format of the menu file is described in
http://standards.freedesktop.org/menu-spec/latest/ and you can
look at the system menus in /etc/xdg/menus/ for clues. Once you
have it you need to point the Applications Menu plugin to it,
there is a setting "Use custom menu file" for that in the
configuration dialog.

An easier way might be to just create a launcher and add multiple
items to it, that will create something similar to the drawers in
CDE and allows you select any of the included items from a popup
menu.
